Fountain photo
Just been looking at the photo that Andrew put on of the Fountain. i chuckled as i remember Joe Harry from the Bull being asked directions by a stranger to West Lane...his reply was " Go up High Street and turn right at the Fountain ".....the Fountain had been gone for donkeys years.....bless him. There was a character....

It was very interesting to see the photo of the fountain, I remember it as we used to play there and splash the water around, does anyone remember what year it was taken down, I think I am really showing my age

Hi Shirley....will get the exact dates tomorrow when my customers come in but i believe it was early 1940s. Even when i was in my teens ..late 60s early 70s, we all used to say " meet you at the fountain " ...

Hi Shirley
I too remember the fountain - we used to meet there in our youth. According to
Doris Riley's book " OWD SETTINGS" the fountain stood from 1902 to 1948.
